Finding lighting that makes a style statement is not easy. Designer lamps can be very expensive, affordable options tend to look like they belong in dorm rooms, and unless you have electrical experience, making one yourself is usually out of the realm of possibility.
This DIY floor lamp is a certain exception. All of the lighting components are sold at home centers and designed to be installed by DIYers like you ... they just typically go on the ceiling. We obviously went an unexpected route, mounting the track to a camera tripod instead. The result is a free-standing lamp with a cool industrial look.
