It’s easy to transform boring, basic wooden utensils into fun kitchen accents. You'll just need a few sample pots of paint in your favorite colors, clear coat, a brush, and some painter's tape.
Painted wooden utensils are a trendy way to add some spice to your kitchen decor. While they don't take too much time or skill to make, they certainly make a big impact. They're a great way to incorporate pops of color without buying a new set of kitchenware.
There are a lot of ways you can display the painted utensils. Our favorite options include grouping the utensils in a metal mesh container, or hanging them on a hook rack to create a fun wall accessory.
Start by wrapping a small piece of painter's tape around the handles of all your kitchenware (photo 1). Next make sure all of the handles have clean, dry surfaces. Then brush on a few coats of paint, allowing drying time between each coat (photo 2). Once the paint is dry, apply a clear coat for a glossy finish and to protect the paint. Then remove the tape and display your utensils (photo 3).
