We turned a bag of miniature pumpkins into simple-to-make votives for tea light candles. They provide an easy, inexpensive way to illuminate a fall centerpiece.
Gather Your Materials. In addition to the miniature pumpkins and tea light candles, we used a cordless drill, a 1 1/2" spade bit, a teaspoon, and a small amount of sand.
To create each votive, we made a hole in the top of a miniature pumpkin using the drill and the spade bit. You can purchase spade bits of various sizes at your local home center.
The miniature pumpkin may still have some pulp left inside. We used a teaspoon to scoop out the remaining pulp.
Next, we poured sand into the bottom of the pumpkin. If you don't have a funnel handy, just use a piece of paper like we did.
Finally, we added a tea light candle to each of the votives. We adjusted the level of the sand slightly so the candle's top was flush with the top of the hole.
That's all it takes to make your own set of pumpkin tea light votives. Use them to decorate at your next party, or just make them to dress up your seasonal decor!
