An accent wall with bold stripes can infuse any room with lively style. The results are even more dramatic when you use metallic glaze to paint those stripes.
Shimmering Style. Getting a professional-looking design is easier than you might think. Keep reading to learn our tips for success.
First, we sketched our uneven striped pattern on graph paper. When we were satisfied with the design, we transferred it to the wall by measuring and marking the edges of each stripe.
Next, we placed a laser level on a flat surface and set the beam for vertical projection. We pressed strips of painter’s tape against the beam, and then repeated the process for each stripe.
With the tape in place, it was time to roll on the first base coat color. Then we allowed the base coat to dry, and applied two even coats of matching metallic glaze.
Once the first color was dry, we moved on to the next one. We pulled off the tape and reapplied new pieces for each color. When the stripes were finished, we carefully removed all of the tape.
With this project, patience paid off in a big way. The lustrous metallic stripes add depth and shine to the space.
