Even the nicest bookcases will look messy if you don’t carefully arrange books and decor on their shelves (before photo, left).
Better Bookcases. It’s possible to create a display without sacrificing storage. We’ll explain how we cut the clutter and created an attractive arrangement.
Add big objects to the shelves first to anchor your arrangement. We kept the original baskets for storage but painted them to match the new display.
Next, start adding your books. To spruce up this collection, we wrapped some of the covers in coordinating fabric swatches.
Fill in the gaps with smaller objects. We had to move these pieces a few times before we were happy with the arrangement.
Now it’s time to add final touches. For us, that meant topping off the short bookcase with a vase collection and a large mirror that echoes the baskets’ texture.
