One of the hardest decorating challenges can be figuring out what to do with the “small stuff,” such as tokens from a vacation. This mega-sized wall clock is our stylish solution.
Get Creative. This wall clock incorporates four large shadow boxes that represent the numbers 12, three, six, and nine on a clock face. These boxes can be filled with any combination of items that you’d like to display.
Start by covering the shadow box frame’s cardboard backing with scrapbook paper. Apply spray adhesive, then set the paper in place and press it down to ensure a secure bond.
Next, mount your photos to art board to prevent them from curling at the edges. Then glue a few small wood blocks on the backs of any items you want to elevate.
If you’d like to add loose materials such as shells, glue the inner frame and any “fixed” objects and photos to the backing. When the glue is dry, carefully add the shells.
You’ll need to pick out a clock kit for your project. High-torque movements that come with oversized clock hands can handle their additional length and weight. Movements with self-contained housings that mount directly to the wall are ideal.
Once the components are complete, you’re ready to put it all together. You may want to add smaller boxes between the larger ones to represent the clock's other numbers. We found some round trinket boxes that worked great for this purpose.
