Purchased throw pillows can make a dent in your decorating budget, but this project lets you use placemats as an inexpensive alternative. You’ll need a placemat with backing that is only attached by thread at the seam, plus a seam ripper, polyester filling, and a hot glue gun or a needle and thread.
Simple DIY Style. Use the seam ripper to make a hole in the seam that holds the front of the placemat to the backing. Then stuff the placemat with polyester filling (inset). Once the placemat is full, close up the seam with hot glue or sew it shut with a basic seam stitch.
