An interesting frame can turn any photo into a work of art. We created these simple frames and covered them with patterned placemats. You can make your own frames, or purchase flat-front frames at the local craft store.
Perfect Placemats. Attractive placemats are available at just about any store that sells linens. We found some for less than $5 at a discount retailer.
Squeeze glue onto the front face of your photo frame. Then use a foam brush to spread the glue evenly over the entire surface.
Set the placemat facedown on your work surface, and then position the frame on top. If your placemat has a pattern, make sure you line up the frame the way you want it to appear.
Place a piece of plywood on top of the frame, and then set a heavy object on top. This object will help ensure a secure connection as the adhesive dries.
After the adhesive is dry, cut around the frame with a utility knife. If you use fabric placemats that fray when you cut them, coat the ends with clear-drying glue or liquid seam sealer. Finish the frame edges with leftover placemat strips, or paint them.
When you’re done embellishing the frames, all that’s left is to add your photos. The frames provide a unique way to show off your favorite images.
