This over-the-window shelf will add a rich, sophisticated style to your room – in addition to providing storage and display space. A pair of metal rope-twist brackets, a piece of poplar, and decorative molding come together to create this striking shelf.
Build the Shelf. Make the shelf by cutting a poplar board to fit the brackets and the space above your window (or door). Cut molding to fit around the board, mitering the corners for seamless joints. Glue the molding to the edges of the board, and then stain the shelf. Install the brackets and mount the shelf to the wall.
