Medium-density fiberboard, or MDF, is a great material in its original state for a variety of projects. It can take on a whole new appearance, however, when you apply a simple paint technique.
A Brand New Look. If you want to give MDF a colorful appearance, simply mix one part oil-based paint and one part paint thinner. Apply it to the MDF, and then wipe it off immediately. When it dries, apply polyurethane for durability.
