Specialty paint treatments can lend a lustrous sheen to your walls. This subtle striae finish, for example, provides an elegant way to add interest in any room.
Subtle & Simple. We chose a user-friendly paint system, called Quartz Stone Impressions by Sherwin Williams, to create the effect. The treatment provides an eye-catching focal point on an accent wall, but it’s certainly simple enough to apply to an entire room.
After applying a base coat and allowing it to dry, you can add a layer of glaze. Apply the glaze in a random, overlapping pattern.
It works best to briskly apply the Quartz Stone in a strip about 3 feet wide from ceiling to floor. Rolling vertically, apply a thick, even coat of the Quartz Stone in these narrow sections.
Now it’s time to create the striae texture. You’ll do this by lightly dragging a wallpaper brush in vertical, top-to-bottom swipes. When you’re working near the floor, back-brush upward to blend the stroke into the texture above.
