A brushed wall treatment can add elegance to any room in your home. The sweeping textured effect shown here was created by using Quartz Stone Impressions specialty paint by Sherwin-Williams.
Dazzling Effects. This product has the consistency of thick cake batter, but it’s lightweight and flows on smoothly with a roller. The brushed technique is great for beginners, since you will simply make random, curving strokes. Continue through the slides to learn more about the process.
Start by covering the wall with one coat of Quartz Stone Basecoat. Roll it on with curving motions that mimic the arcs in the finished paint technique. Then allow the base coat to dry for four hours.
Now you’ll apply the Quartz Stone layer. Using a microfiber roller with ½-inch nap, apply a thick, consistent coat of the product. Cover an area that’s only as large as you can comfortably reach. (We worked in 5-foot sections.)
Once the Quartz Stone has been applied to the wall, you’ll have about 15 minutes to work before it sets up. Lightly drag a wallpaper brush over the section in random, arcing motions. Use a rag to wipe excess paint from the bristles as you work. Continue applying and brushing the product until your surface is complete.
