Hanging one of those foot-wide full-length mirrors on a slab door is a little boring by itself. Here's a stylish alternative.
Mirror Muntins. We used muntins (the thin strips of wood that often divide windows) to make mirrors on the door resemble a paned window. For our door, we opted to attach two 24" x 36" mirrors from the home center instead of custom-ordering a larger mirror.
First, we determined the position of the mirrors. Then we applied mirror mounting tape and mastic, and carefully set each mirror in place.
We made 45-degree cuts on the frame pieces and 90-degree cuts on the surface pieces. For our pattern, we had to use a coping saw to make a notch for the doorknob (Inset Photo).
Construction adhesive sets up quickly and made attaching the muntins easy. We used spacers to position the surface pieces.
The attractive arrangement of wood strips gives this door a great look. Plus, the mirror is still practical to use since the strips don't interrupt too much of the reflection.
