Replacing your hardware is an easy makeover, but it can also be an expensive one. When you start changing knobs, pulls, and handles, the cost can add up to hundreds of dollars.
Perfect Paints. But you can reduce that price to between $10 and $20 instead. The secret is to give the hardware a new look with spray paint.
Magic Metallics. If you haven't been down the spray paint aisle recently, you'll be amazed by all the options available. You can buy paint that gives you the look of popular finishes such as oil-rubbed bronze, satin nickel, and copper.
We used metallic spray paint to update all of the mismatched hardware in a bathroom. First, we uninstalled the hardware pieces.
Next, we used a sanding pad to roughen each piece of hardware. This step helps the spray paint stick to the metal.
After wiping off all of the dust, we applied several even coats of spray paint. We used a light touch to avoid drips.
When the paint was dry, we applied a clear topcoat. This step helps protect the painted finish from everyday wear and tear.
Once the topcoat was dry, we were left with a beautiful set of hardware. You'd never be able to tell that these elegant pieces started out as a mismatched collection!
